Talking Fashion over 4o with Tina Rowden
Chatting with my friend Tina Rowden I couldn’t help but admire her sense for style. She looks like a chic rockstar. She keeps heads turning as she pairs timeless classics with trendy pieces. This Australian born and raised beauty looks like a fashion designer walking off NYC fashion week., you would never know her comfort level lies behind the camera. Tina is an Atlanta-based photographer and specializes in Motion Picture Stills, Commercial and Editorial photography. Working endlessly on set for series such as Stranger Things and OZARK to name a few. Her credit list is lengthy proving she is a success because she was determined to be.
We met 9 years ago when I worked at a salon in Midtown Atlanta. Tina and I were introduced through a friend, and we immediately spoke about collaborating together to build our portfolios. We worked together on a few shoots as we both shared a love for fashion, and she became a hair client and friend. The years took us in different directions with careers, family, struggles, as well as triumphs.
Tina is a quite an inspiration to me. She raised two amazing grown kids on her own, was one of the most honest and down to earth people I have met in the industry, and a self made success. She took the opportunity to reinvent herself in her industry as Atlanta became a hub for Hollywood movie sets, and movie filming in Atlanta was on the rise.
She transformed her photography business into working on motion picture and television series as a still photographer.
Over lunch we caught up and discussed health, career, beauty, children, and how NOT to be boring with your fashion choices after 40! It was like a lightbulb went off after we discussed the aches of the last couple of years since we last saw or worked together. Catching up with a friend can set off a lot of emotions when you share heartaches and struggles.., but when you have moments of excitement, share ideas and inspiration its pure magic!
Sometimes all you need is a good chat, positive energy, inspiration, and friendship to lift your spirits.
Tina’s take on fashion:
Tina invests in one big purchase per season and shops around for designer looks at places like
Zara and H&M.
This past season her big purchases were Proenza Shouler boots and raincoat.
Tina saves the boots for offset, wearing them with everything including dresses, and the raincoat is worn everyday it rains.
She wishes it made sense to wear it on sunny days!
Tina’s fashion tips:
Invest in you pieces and wear them per your mood.
Pair a band t-shirt with jeans and golden gooses during the day, and dress it up at night
by tucking it in a flow skirt, adding a leather jacket, and Proenza Shouler boots.
Less is more always-except when it comes to shoes!
